Despite the Spanish government’s use of blind optimism in regards to economic matters, an obstinate reality surfaces in the international media. Download PDF espDescargar PDF

If in economic issues, the Administration is deceitful; in foreign and security policy, he prefers the ostrich style: Denial of the obvious. What makes it more serious is that the Administration does it knowing full well that we become more isolated from our partners and allies. Rodríguez Zapatero does not want to know anything about the NATO mission in Afghanistan; he refuses to support toughening of the EU sanctions against Iran; and of course, he does not favor the rapprochement of leaders like Sarkozy with the United States. We are alone facing danger. This is what that entity advertised as “the government of Spain” has achieved. Download PDF

Since the death of General Francisco Franco, few times has Spain been so humiliated in such a public and blatant manner as during these days. We could find comfort in thinking that the humiliated one is our distinguished Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, but the fact is that, when it comes to the international scene, the states are the actors and the politicians are only instrumental. On the other hand, Spaniards voted freely for him, we therefore feel that, in the end, he does represent all of us. Download PDF espDescargar PDF

Any analysis of Zapatero’s foreign policy must take place however within the context of Spain’s domestic politics, which are deeply polarized between left and right. It looks like all evil from past terrible history of Spain’s internal rivalries and struggles have come to light. Download PDF

Zapatero based his entire political project on three great challenges. The first one was a negotiation with the Basque terrorist organization ETA that would allow him to take political advantage of the group’s weakness. The second one was a territorial reform of the country to meet the needs of his independentist partners in government. The third one has been a policy to isolate and annihilate politically Spain’s main opposition party, the Popular Party (PP), by discrediting it as a democratic alternative. During years, the legend built around the Aznar Administration and its concealments has become bona fide, though there is no evidence that the Aznar Administration lied, and all the investigations done for the trial case show a joint effort by PSOE and the leftist media to manipulate the existing information. The 3/11 trial shows that the government of José María Aznar never lied or concealed information to the public. On the contrary, it just shows the existence of a Socialist agitprop campaign in collusion with their media allies. Download PDF espDescargar PDF

Analysis nº 200
By any measure, Spain is a magnet for immigration: During the past ten years, the number of immigrants in Spain has skyrocketed nine-fold to 4.5 million; immigrants now make up a whopping ten percent of the total population of Spain, a country that for much of the last century was an exporter rather than an importer of immigrants. Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and his political spin doctors have been especially busy this summer. Indeed, they have been making furious rounds on the national television talk show circuit, trying to explain to an increasingly skeptical Spanish public just why the Socialist government’s “progressive” foreign policy of coddling third world despots has turned Spain into one of the most marginalized countries in the European Union. The Basque separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (E.T.A.), in a June 5 statement published by two Basque pro-independence newspapers Berria and Gara, said that it would end a 15-month cease-fire and resume its terrorist campaign "on all fronts to defend the Basque homeland." Download PDF
