It is very probable that the attack against the Guardia Civil in France will not be the last one carried out by ETA in this legislature. It seems inevitable that attacks will continue, taking into account the seized material. However, the government continues to make half-hearted attempts with the terrorist group; the last one occurred with Rubalcaba speaking of a “fortuitous” attack; that is to say, accidental, making it seem as if the terrorist group were not demonstrating day after day that its will to kill is more alive than ever, and as if the gunshots were fired just by chance. It seems clear that ETA will cause all the damage it can, from now to Election Day and beyond.

Things look bad when the proposal presented by European parliamentarians, with the only protest coming from the Popular Party, is to keep Spain with 54 seats while the major countries obtain an increase. Besides, if we consider that the “stubborn” Poland wants to increase its leverage in the Parliament, who do you think will lose seats? Sarkozy’s France? Merkel’s Germany? Well, of course not. Probably, the victim will be Spain. Nevertheless, we will certainly get a smiling photo and a handshake telling us; “You have returned to the heart of Europe.” Descargar PDF

Since the death of General Francisco Franco, few times has Spain been so humiliated in such a public and blatant manner as during these days. We could find comfort in thinking that the humiliated one is our distinguished Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, but the fact is that, when it comes to the international scene, the states are the actors and the politicians are only instrumental. On the other hand, Spaniards voted freely for him, we therefore feel that, in the end, he does represent all of us. Descargar PDF

The European Parliament on June 21 approved an urgent resolution about Cuba's human rights record. This came after the External Relations Council decided not to lift diplomatic sanctions against the island, and against the wishes of Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. Once more, the European Parliament has struck a hard blow to the Socialist government’s foreign policy.

ETA’s supposed cease-fire is now formally over, but it does not represent the end of a negotiating process between this government and the terrorist group. Zapatero did not say it yesterday and neither did ETA. Descargar PDF

And Moratinos, prevailing again. He pesters her; he begs her; he pleads with her; when she finally comes to Spain, his colleague at Defense as a warm-up and in a demonstration of Zapatero-style courtesy, managed to criticize a typical accident of war by American troops in Afghanistan that happened two months ago. Sick from illegitimate politics, searching obsessively to provide themselves with a biography that they do not have, and remorseful of building a new media-political aristocracy, the Spanish neocoms invent history: their own and that of everyone else. The trolls are coming out from every corner, advising against the power and the right while, without knowing why, they happily embrace anything that sounds revolutionary, from Arnaldo Otegi, Hugo Chavez, or Ahmadinejad.

Zapatero’s government has opted for a preferential relationship with Morocco while relationships with others have deteriorated. This has not even helped resolve problems in the neighboring Alaouite country.
