Dr. Walid Phares es profesor de Estudios de Oriente Medio y experto en el islam político y la jihad, graduándose en Derecho y Ciencias Políticas por las Universidades Jesuita y Libanesa y doctorándose en Relaciones Internacionales y Estudios Estratégicos por la Universidad de Miami. Enseñó en la Saint Joseph University en los 80 y ejerció en Derecho en Beirut hasta 1990. Más tarde fue editor del Sawt el-Mashreq y Mashrek International, emigrando posteriormente a Estados Unidos, donde ha dado clases en la Florida International University y la Florida Atlantic University. Ha publicado centenares de artículos y escrito siete libros acerca del fundamentalismo islámico, y ha sido consultado por el Congreso americano en 3 ocasiones.
De origen libanés, es director de la Fundación por un Líbano Libre y miembro del Middle East Forum. Es experto en temas relacionados con islam político y la jihad. Colabora en la CNBC y MSNBC, y es columnista regular de varias publicaciones internacionales.
