The internet movie, Fitna, was available March 27th, around seven in the evening Netherlands time. By ten at night, the prime minister of the country had already appeared on television condemning the film and declaring it deplorable. He complimented Muslims for their fair reaction. He did so in Dutch, and English. Newspaper Trouw even topped that by having its next-day editorial published in Arabic. March 29th the Internet provider had to remove the film overwhelmed by threats.

As commentators here and there plead for more progressivism in European politics, the French have outlined their policies for their upcoming presidency next term. Everyone has the right to incorporate whatever they'd like into those principles, including progressivism. They may even claim it is what's best for Europe. I however, beg to differ.

Geert Wilders is not just any Dutch politician, but one who likes controversy and knows how to exploit the weaknesses of the Dutch system. He was extremely troublesome for his party of origin, the liberal party. He left to start his own: the Party of Liberty, in which wants to draw down the welfare state. He suggests the beneficiaries of it are mainly Muslims who lack desire to integrate into the country and its customs. He has gone pretty far on the subject calling Islam retarded and asking for the Koran to be forbidden, comparing it to Mein Kampf.
Lately the Iraq war –or the European media’s interpretation of it –has somewhat altered our perception of the powerful nation. To be specific, in Spain people consider America the cause of a provocation that generated the biggest attack ever perpetrated in Europe. In the face of such deduction, one can only be amazed to still find around 30% of my fellow citizens with a positive opinion of the United States.
